Idéalement placé au fond du vallon de La Selle, le refuge du même nom s’atteint aisément depuis le téléphérique de la Grave. Pour les grimpeurs qui n’ont pas peur de sortir les crampons, il permet de superbes escalades sauvages, dans un cadre glaciaire spectaculaire. Et pour ne rien gâcher la qualité du rocher est au rendez-vous : fissures, dalles, dévers, tous les profils se succèdent pour vous proposer des escalades de caractères. Les guides de La Grave seront heureux de vous accompagner sur ces sommets peu connus mais magnifiques : pointe Thorant, Pointe Emma, face sud du Râteau…

HOW DIFFICULT WILL THE TRIP BE?

Intermediate

You should be able to climb up to 5c/6a as a follower. You know how to tie your knots and belay. You know how to rappel. You are comfortable removing trad climbing gear.


Introductory

You should be able to climb up to 5b (5.8) as a follower. You know how to tie your knots and belay. You may have the opportunity to lead or not. We will be happy to teach you. If you don't know how to rappel, we will teach you.


WHAT LEVEL OF PHYSICAL FITNESS DO I NEED?

Moderate

The approach might require a maximum of 2 hours hiking while carrying a backpack (5 to 10 kilos). Endurance and strength are needed to be able to climb around 200 meters (650 feet) with some sections of vertical rock.
