La Colère du Ciel

A long easy icefall, perfect for an introduction to multi-pitch ice climbing

'La Colère du Ciel' is one of the ice climbing classics around la Grave, regularly formed and climbed. A 45-minute approach through the forest allows us to get to the base of the icefall. Made up of 7 pitches, it is much longer than 'Le Pylône' but has a similar average technical difficulty. The first pitch is a good warm up, giving us the opportunity to become familiar with ice climbing techniques. The different pitches are regularly interspersed with short steep sections. The fifth pitch is the crux of the icefall, slightly steeper than the other pitches. 'La Colère du Ciel' is definitely the perfect icefall to become familiar and perfect your skills of this winter mountain sport. Grade: 3+ Vertical: +700m/+2240ft (+280m/+896ft of ice climbing)

HOW DIFFICULT WILL THE TRIP BE?

Intermediate

You have already tried ice climbing or you have a lot of experience rock climbing. You would like to try longer multi-pitch climbs. You are able to give an all day effort.
